Job Description

Ultimate Staffing is seeking a Shipping Clerk to join a client in Fremont. This is a 6 month contract with potential to extend into a full-time position based on performance. Hours for the role are Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and coordinating outgoing shipments to ensure products are delivered accurately and on time. This role maintains shipping records, prepares documentation, verifies inventory, and works closely with warehouse personnel, carriers, and customer service teams to support efficient distribution operations.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and carrier manifests.
  • Support both domestic and international shipping.
  • Verify shipment contents against orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate daily shipments with carriers and transportation providers.
  • Load, unload, and inspect materials and products as needed.
  • Track shipments and resolve delivery issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate shipping and inventory records within company systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
  • Communicate shipment status and delivery information to internal teams and customers.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliation.
  • Monitor shipping supplies and notify management when replenishment is needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support warehouse operations and other logistics-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of warehouse shipping experience, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience processing LTL, parcel, and freight shipments.
  • Proficient in creating Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other shipping documentation.
  • Experience using FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, and other carrier shipping systems.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping orders, packing lists, and customer routing instructions.
  • Strong understanding of shipping procedures, freight classifications, and carrier requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with warehouse personnel, customer service, carriers, and drivers.
  • Ability to safely lift to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and following company procedures.
